If you are willing to take on challenging tasks and have a passion for investigating massive sets of data, then you are halfway there.

This role will report to the Director of Data Technology and will work directly with the team to manage product delivery from beginning to end.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day to day operations of the Data Science team
  • Work in cross-functional teams with software developers and decision makers to develop success criteria and deliver new models and products
  • Collect, manipulate, present, and analyze large datasets with the purpose to formulate actionable insights and present to a non-technical audience
  • Work on all aspects of data including acquisition, exploration, cleaning, feature engineering, and experimentation with machine learning algorithms if suitable
  • Come up with proof-of-concept data-driven models related to behavioural authentication and fraud detection
  • Monitor the performance of models, used in production, in collaboration with various stakeholders responsible for client integration, analytics and operations

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3 years of relevant experience in a professional setting
  • Hands-on experience examining massive real-world data sources
  • Degree or diploma in computer science, programming or software development
  • Comfortable writing advanced SQL queries to explore and extract data from very large databases
  • Ability to lead a team identifying and resolving complex issues in a collaborative manner
  • Experience working with languages and platforms used for modelling, specifically any of the following: Python (highly preferred), R, Java, MATLAB, SAS

Bonus Abilities:

  • Fraud modelling experience
  • Exposure to scalable distributed data processing and/or visualization tools
  • Previous academic research experience with machine learning or applied research that involves identifying patterns in very large data sets
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence
  • Experience working directly with customers

This is a permanent, full-time position with competitive salary, great extended health benefits, flextime schedules, and a work environment that encourages and supports professional development. All that and beautiful view of the North Shore mountains, coffee that doesn’t suck, and colleagues that are as brilliant as they are likeable. We love working here, and we think you will too.

Our focus currently on candidates that are either already in or willing to relocate to the Vancouver area, and who are already eligible to work in Canada.
